iNADO Chair Anders Solheim Presents at WADA Foundation Board

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – December 2024
Upon invitation from WADA, iNADO Chair Anders Solheim presented at the December WADA Foundation Board meeting, highlighting the crucial role of National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) in the global anti-doping system. Solheim emphasized the vital work of NADOs, including year-round testing, athlete education in local languages, and collaborations with Governments and law enforcement to promote clean sport.
Solheim highlighted the significant investment and commitment of iNADO members to anti-doping on a daily basis. As an example, he noted that the NADOs from the 10 countries winning the most medals at the previous two Olympic Games — all of which are members of iNADO – collectively invest approximately $100 million and collect approximately 115,000 samples annually. Solheim emphasized the broader contribution of all NADOs, stressing the need to protect, promote, and ensure maximal outcomes from this collective investment.
For iNADO, an important step is to inform the larger anti-doping community about its collective efforts and activities. Solheim noted the necessity of showcasing the added value of iNADO and its members in the fight against doping, enabling the organization to highlight both opportunities and challenges faced by NADOs when important decisions are made. He concluded by calling for continued efforts to improve the framework conditions for NADOs.
“NADOs are the cornerstone of anti-doping,” Solheim concluded. “We must have a strong, unified voice to ensure the best outcomes for clean sport worldwide.”
